Last updated 16 October 2026

The short version

  • AXE edits on your PC. Your projects, footage and files never leave it.
  • The app only goes online to check a paid licence. Free and the trial send nothing.
  • This website only asks for your email, for launch news.
  • No ads, no tracking cookies, and we never sell your data.
  • Want to see or delete your data? Email us.

01Who we are

The independent developer who makes AXE, trading as Keyroom Studio (“we”, “us”) is responsible for the personal data described here (the “controller”). For anything about your data, email us.

When you buy AXE, Paddle is responsible for your payment data. More in When you buy.

02This website

  • The launch list. If you join, we keep your email address, when you joined and which form you used. We use it only to tell you about AXE's launch. Loops sends these emails for us, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Counting visits. We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets no cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites.
  • Hosting. The site (keyroomstudio.com) runs on Cloudflare, which uses your IP address to deliver pages and block attacks.
  • On your device only. If you press “Pause motion”, your browser remembers it. The page guesses your currency from your browser's language and time zone. Neither is sent to us.

Cookies. We don't use tracking or advertising cookies. Cloudflare may set a small security cookie to block bots, and Paddle's checkout uses the cookies it needs to take payment safely.

03The AXE app

Today

AXE isn't out yet, and the version in testing sends nothing online at all. The licence check arrives with the paid version.

AXE works on your PC. It needs no internet to edit, and it never sends your projects, footage, presets, file names or anything you type. There are no analytics and no usage tracking.

AXE Free and the 14-day Pro trial send nothing. The trial is counted on your PC, with no account.

Pro checks your licence online. This is all a check sends:

Licence check · HTTPSPro only

Licence key
AXE-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXThe key you bought.
Machine ID
A one-way code made from your PC's hardware ID and your Windows user name.It lets one key work on 2 PCs, not 200. The hardware ID and user name never leave your PC.
PC name
Only when you activate, like “AXE on EDIT-PC”.So you can tell your PCs apart.
Never sent

Projects, footage, file names, what you type, how you use AXE.

AXE checks when you activate or deactivate a PC, and now and then in the background: about once a week on Lifetime, every few days on Monthly. Like any connection, the licence server sees your IP address.

On your PC. AXE keeps its settings and logs in an AXE folder in your Windows user folder. If something goes wrong, a log can include a screenshot of Premiere, so it may show your footage. Logs stay on your PC. They only reach us if you choose to send them.

04When you buy

Paddle, our Merchant of Record, runs the checkout. It collects your name, email, country, payment details and, where tax needs it, your address. Paddle handles this under its own privacy notice. We never see your full card number.

Paddle shares with us what we need to send your licence key and help you: your name, email, country, what you bought and the order numbers. Our licence service, Keygen, keeps your licence record: the key, the plan, your purchase email, the order numbers, the PCs it's active on and when it last checked.

Emails about your purchase, like your key and receipts, aren't marketing. After you buy, we may also send a few short setup tips. You can unsubscribe from those any time.

05When you email us

If you write to us, we keep the conversation in our support inbox (Gmail, by Google) so we can help you.

07Who we share it with

Only these services, and only so they can do their job for AXE:

  • PaddleCheckout, payment, tax and invoices (Merchant of Record)Privacy notice
  • KeygenLicence keys and licence checksPrivacy notice
  • LoopsThe launch list and our emailsPrivacy notice
  • CloudflareHosting, security, visit counts and email forwardingPrivacy notice
  • Google (Gmail)Our support inboxPrivacy notice

We may also share data with a professional adviser, such as an accountant, or with the authorities when the law requires it. We never sell or rent your data, and we never use it for ads.

These services may handle data outside your country, mostly in the US and the EU. Where the law requires it, they use recognised safeguards, such as the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses.

08Keeping it safe

We collect as little as we can, use well-known providers with strong security, and use HTTPS everywhere. Apart from the services above, only we can see your data. AXE's licence check sends a one-way code for your PC, never the raw hardware ID. We never store card numbers.

09Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

  • show you the data we hold about you;
  • correct it, or delete it;
  • give you a copy to take elsewhere;
  • limit, or object to, how we use it;
  • stop emailing you (or just use the unsubscribe link).

Email us. We'll reply within one month, usually much sooner. Two things to know: Paddle has to keep order records for tax law, and deleting your licence record also switches off your key. If you're not happy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

10Children

AXE and this website aren't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us their email, tell us and we'll delete it.

11Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you've already given us, we'll email you first.

Questions about your data?

Email us. We read every message.
